At the end of my year long journey, I will print each of your photos and place them around the border of the global map. Then I will have it matted and framed as a wall hanging of friends, family, and global neighbors throughout our world!

Reflections 2009 - 2010

Nearly 30 days on my Journey from America the Beautiful to China! Wow! I keep wondering where the camera crew is, or the director of this movie set I am in. From Atlanta, Georgia in the western hemisphere to Hong Kong, China in the eastern hemisphere. Tomorrow morning, I will begin the next turn in the path of my journey across the world, our Global Neighborhood! I guess I am the camera man, and we all know who the DIRECTOR is!!!! :)
My family and friends in the USA ask me if I am excited, nervous, or what? Hmmmm. All I think of is to live each day and look at everything with a new set of eyes, a different perspective, open to what comes my way. I know I am about to walk into a new experience of teaching in a few days. Nervous? Kind of. Excited? Kind of. All I know is I must be ready for the unknown and be ready to be flexible. It has been nearly 30 days since I departed ATL. I am ready to set up my new home in Guangzhou. 30 days living out of a small carry-on luggage is long enough for me. Although I appreciate all the nice beds, homes, and delicious food I have experienced.
I have been blessed to stay with family and friends for the most part of my journey. At times, I have rented a motel room or stayed at a Youth Hostel, IH (International Hostel- with the blue triangle in the center of a circ le). The past few days, I have been blessed to have a very cozy place to stay on Lamma Island- one of many islands within the Hong Kong area, just outside of Kowloon. This island does not allow motorized vehicals. Only foot and bicycle traffic allowed, except for the "city workers" doing their civic repair jobs in and around the several different villages.
As I made my way across America, I really enjoyed listening to other people's journeys in life. We have so much to learn from one another, if only, we take the time to listen and especially take the time to ask questions. I have found out that people really want to make a difference while they journey throughout this life on earth. The search of when, how, and what to do seems to be the most common wonderings. Don't get me started..... you know what I think...I have the solution for their wonderings LOL, or at least, I think I do :)
I will make time to post more frequent reflections as I walk down the next path of the journey in Guangzhou, China!
